Leveraging the contribution of Edutech to improve literacy in Spanish
In collaboration with Ceibal, the Ceibal Foundation is implementing the project “Leveraging the contribution of Edutech to improve literacy in Spanish”, which seeks to develop an app to support the learning of reading and writing in Spanish by children in their early literacy stage, with a focus on the first year of primary education.
Through mechanisms for collaboration among the public education system, academia and private sector innovators, the project aims to produce new solutions that will improve the academic performance of 4- to 8-year-old children, particularly those from a disadvantaged background.
The development of the app will involve the adaptation of a selection of analogue content developed using the Sophia Method. This method was developed and tested in education centres in Uruguay by the Catholic University of Uruguay (UCU) and the Sophia Foundation.
The project is supported and funded by the IDB Lab and the ReachingU Foundation.
