Ceibal Foundation in the 8th ENQA General Assembly

Ceibal Foundation participated in the 8th ENQA General Assembly. The event took place in Sèvres, France, on 26-27 October 2017, hosted by the Centre International d’Etudes Pédagogiques (CIEP) and was an opportunity for educative community for share and discuss about the most relevant topics of the higher edauction quality whith the objective of insure comprehensive services and networking opportunities.

• Decentralization and disintermediation: the Internet as a social sphere where communities can create and disseminate knowledge and information to others has diversified the mechanisms of knowledge production, but has also brought deep implications in what was traditionally understood as valid knowledge
• Massive and growing demand: at the beginning of the 21st century, the exponential demand for education can not be fulfilled if we depend on the classic model of the University of the twentieth century. At present, the development of universities is not only observed in the growing volume of students, but also in the number of years that students must attend college to obtain a postgraduate degree.
• New forms of knowledge production: the growing connection and interdependence between 21st century societies has influenced how knowledge is produced: the creation of new knowledge occurs in a much more distributed way. In this sense, knowledge is created in a more collaborative and transdisciplinary way.
• New means of knowledge recognition: taking into account the growing demand, the commodification of knowledge, more distributed forms of access to knowledge, flexible forms of learning, etc., it can be argued that the forms and mechanisms to evaluate, validate and recognize the knowledge are also changing. Consequently, today it is not only relevant what knowledge has (or can have access to), but also what it can do with knowledge (adaptive experience, superior habilitation, just-in-time learning).
