Ceibal Foundation and the National Research and Innovation Agency (ANII) announce the opening of the Education Sector Fund “Digital Inclusion: Education with new horizons” modality. The purpose of the call is to fund research projects that will provide original data regarding existing knowledge in the field of teaching and learning aided by digital technologies.
The research proposals to be submitted must be related to social or educational aspects of Plan Ceibal and be aimed at formal education – preschool, primary, secondary and teacher training – in the public education system, with a focus on vulnerable populations. They must also be consistent with at least one of the priority topics or broad lines of interest set out in the terms and conditions, which must be duly identified in the proposal together with the questions it will seek to answer. In addition, the proposals must clearly establish what specific inputs or outputs will be produced, and partial deliveries are expected whenever possible in the context of the project.
This edition of the Education Sector Fund will have two modalities with specific objectives.
The Education Sector Fund is aimed at research groups based in national or international public or private institutions, which paves the way for partnerships with institutions from other countries and maximises the impact of the projects. In the event that the applicant is a foreign- based institution, it must have a local counterpart in Uruguay.
The 2021 call is the seventh edition since the fund was created in 2015. The implementation of 53 research projects of both national and international institutions has been funded and supported through the call in the field of education and technology.
FUNDING AND DURATION OF THE PROJECTS
In view of the challenge facing Plan Ceibal and the Uruguayan public education system of coming up with resilient education solutions, shorter-duration initiatives which will guide informed public policy decision-making in the short term will be favoured. The projects may have a duration of between 8 and 24 months, with short projects understood to be those not exceeding 16 months in duration.
As much as 80% of the total cost of the project will be funded with a maximum grant of UYU 2,900,000.
The call is open until September 15 th , 2021.
