Five projects will be funded by FSED Digital Inclusion – Modality B

Ceibal Foundation, together with the National Research and Innovation Agency (ANII), and with the support of IDRC Canada, announces the 5 projects that have been selected in Modality B of the sixth edition of the Education Sector Fund: “Digital Inclusion: Education with New Horizons” (FSED). They will be funded by Ceibal Foundation through the ADELA (Alliance for the Digitalisation of Education in Latin America) project, funded by IDRC Canada.

The aim of Modality B of the Education Sector Fund is the funding of projects or initiatives up to 5 months in length that will provide concrete solutions to problems or needs in Latin American and Caribbean countries for the continuation of education during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The call was launched in 2020, and a total of 23 proposals were submitted, 10 of which made it through to the formulation phase. Finally, 5 were selected as beneficiaries of the funds. The proposals are from Costa Rica, Honduras, Uruguay, Mexico and Colombia.

Selected projects:

• Best practices for the development of entrepreneurial and innovation skills in secondary school students with remote learning strategies in the context of the COVID-19 emergency (Buenas prácticas para el desarrollo de habilidades de emprendimiento e innovación en estudiantes de secundaria con estrategias de aprendizaje remoto, en el contexto de la emergencia por COVID-19), submitted by the Omar Dengo Foundation of Costa Rica.
• The challenge of educational inclusion for the disabled through the use of digital tools (El desafío de la inclusión educativa en población con discapacidad, mediada con el uso herramientas digitales), submitted by the Ministry of Education/General Directorate of Professional Development (DGDP) of Honduras.
• Digital devices for the continuation of education in curricular units with high practical content (Dispositivos digitales para la continuidad pedagógica en unidades curriculares de alto contenido práctico), submitted by the National Administration of Public Education – Teacher Training Council of Uruguay.
• Guide to teacher training and school practice for digital competence in and design and production of OER (Guía para la formación docente y práctica escolar en materia de competencia digital, diseño y producción de REA), submitted by the General Coordination Office of @prende.mx and the General Directorate of Educational Television of the Secretariat of Public Education of Mexico.
• Microlabs at Home: Multimodal Strategies for the Enrichment of Learning Processes in the Daily Lives of Children during and after the Pandemic (Microlabs en Casa: Estrategias Multimodales para el enriquecimiento de procesos de aprendizaje en la cotidianidad de los niños en contexto de Pandemia y Postpandemia), submitted by Fundación Universitaria Cafam of Colombia.

The Fund is an initiative of Ceibal Foundation and ANII. It has been in operation since 2015 and was supported by IDRC Canada between 2018 and 2020 as part of the ADELA project led by Ceibal Foundation. Its purpose is the funding of research projects consistent with one or more of the priority lines and topics whose implementation may result in proposals or inputs that can be applied or transferred to the educational context. The implementation of 41 national and international research projects has been funded and supported to date in the field of education and technology.

The projects submitted in Modality A of the 2020 Education Sector Fund are still being assessed, and the results will be announced in the coming weeks.
