Ceibal Foundation, Antel and ANEP confirmed the second edition of the cycle of conferences. This year, it will be titled +Aprendizajes and will take place in Montevideo, Uruguay, during the second semester of 2019.
Once more, the invitation is to stimulate the discussion, debate and reflection on education and technologies. International experts will visit Uruguay to share their experiences with educators, university students and the media, among other people interested. The participants can join the conferences face-to-face or virtually via Vera+.
+Aprendizajes will have its inaugural talk on August 20th with Merlyl Alper, researcher and Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at Northeastern University. She studies the social and cultural implications of communication technologies with a focus on disability and digital media, children and families’ technology use, and mobile communication.
You can find some of her work in the books, Digital Youth with Disabilities (MIT Press, 2014) and Giving Voice: Mobile Communication, Disability, and Inequality (MIT Press, 2017), which was awarded a 2018 PROSE Award Honorable Mention from the Association of American Publishers and the 2018 Outstanding Publication in the Sociology of Disability Award from the American Sociological Association.
She has also worked professionally as a consultant, researcher and strategist in children’s and educational media, collaborating with organizations such as Sesame Workshop, PBS, Nickelodeon and Disney.
