The Center for Research Ceibal Foundation visits Korea

From the 14th until the 18th of September, Ms Mariana Montaldo Head of Department at Ceibal and Dr. Cristóbal Cobo, Director of the Center for Research – Ceibal Foundation visited Korea. The visit was an important opportunity to learn from the different initiatives taking place in the field of Educational Technology and ICT in Education in Korea. In addition, the meetings and visits held, were relevant for promoting exchange of experiences between Uruguay and Korea as well as among the institutions involved.

List of meetings and visits held:

• Visit to the Korea Education and Research Information Services -KERIS-
• Meeting with KERIS’ President Lim Sungbin, Director of Global Policy Research Center Dr. Sohn Byeong-gil and Boseon Kim -Associate Research Fellow-.
• Participation in the e-Learning Korea summit delivering the lecture “How to increase the completion rate in MOOCs? Lessons learned from the Uruguay experience” (see presentation).
• Visit to the IT showcase focused on new educational technologies and potential providers in the field.
• Meeting with Robert Kim, CEO of Iportfolio a digital book creator and distribution platform.  
• Visit to the Korean Education Development institute (KEDI) and meeting with the Director of the Global Education Division Dr. Ju Hur and Associate researchers Su-Jin Choi and Hoonho Kim.
• Meeting with the Director of the Big Data Institute at the Seoul National University.
• Meeting with the Vice-president from KICE (Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation).
• Meeting with Dr. Taejoon Park Research Fellow from the Center for Global Education and Dr. Soojin Kim from the Division of Educational Evaluation.
• Visit to Hanyang University and meeting with Dr. Dongsik Kim, Chairperson of the Department of Educational Technology.
