Ceibal Fundation presents the 5th edition of the EdTech Winter School, which will be held online on August 9th and 10th, organised with the support of the National Research and Innovation Agency (ANII). The Winter School will provide an open space aimed at policy makers, researchers and the education community at large with presentations by renowned national and international lecturers, and a restricted space for work aimed at connecting networks of national and international researchers for the purpose of producing ideas for research projects that could be submitted to the Education Sector Fund: “Digital Inclusion: Education with New Horizons” modality.
The activity will offer a general reflection on the challenges related to innovation and the integration of digital culture, this year’s core theme being “Building a resilient education system in Uruguay”. Winter School 2021 will present the priority topics of the 2021 call of the Education Sector Fund, as defined by Plan Ceibal in coordination with the National Administration of Public Education (ANEP), with a view to becoming a space that paves the way for the production of ideas and projects. This edition of the Education Sector Fund will be open to national and foreign institutions, the latter being required to have a local counterpart in Uruguay.
The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in one of the greatest social disruptions in the past century. The provision of essential services has not always been equitable, affecting basic functions of the systems, such as ensuring inclusion and equity: the very concept of humanity was challenged. In this context, Uruguay, like other countries, is faced with the challenge of devising a resilient education system capable of dealing with changes while maintaining its basic functions, structure and identity, as well as its capacity for organization, learning and adaption.
