Relive the education and technology meeting in the region

The Ceibal Foundation invites you to relive the meeting Technology and Education in Latin America: 2023 GEM Report Regional Consultation through the version available on demand on its YouTube channel:https://youtu.be/56X8pjOxCaY, and presents the publication Report on the Technology and Education in Latin America Event: 2023 GEM Report Regional Consultation, which brings together the main reflections from the high-level meeting organized in collaboration with the Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report. This document shares reflections from the event and the testimony of the Ministers of Education who participated in this event (Colombia, Ecuador, Honduras and Uruguay, Deputy Minister of El Salvador and the former Minister of Argentina, Esteban Bullrich), as well as the keynote speaker, Fernando Reimers, and the other speakers, leaders from international organizations and non-governmental organizations.

The meeting, which took place on March 29, involved over 700 enrolled participants from 27 countries – 19 in Latin America –, including policymakers, researchers, teachers and representatives of the national and regional education community. It was held in the context of the 2023 GEM Report on technology and education. The aim of the GEM Report is to monitor progress in achieving the education targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition to being a member of the GEM Report Advisory Board, the Ceibal Foundation is the organization responsible for leading the regional consultation process on technology and education in Latin America for the next report.

The activity was part of the Ceibal Foundation Digital Space cycle and was undertaken in the context of the Alliance for the Digitalization of Education in Latin America (ADELA), coordinated by the Ceibal Foundation and funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC Canada), which sponsored the event.

The event was also sponsored by the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), the World Bank (WB), the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI), Inter-American Dialogue, the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (OREALC) and the Office for Latin America of UNESCO’s International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP).
