The Ceibal Foundation was created by the Ceibal Center for the Support of Children and Adolescents, known as Plan Ceibal, a public body in Uruguay which aim is to generate inclusion and equal opportunities with the support of technology, including the provision of computers and free internet for all children and young people who enter the country's public education system.
The Foundation is an autonomous organization that seeks to solve challenges related to the learning and mediation of technologies, through innovative methodologies and with a practical, social and participatory approach. It is oriented to problematize and contribute ideas and solutions to the current and future implementation of the Plan Ceibal and other national and international educational actors.
The Ceibal Foundation is linked to international spaces of exchange and work on education, innovation and technologies such as the Broadband Commission and the UNESCO Global Coalition for Education.
Promote, develop and coordinate research, innovation and dissemination projects on technology and learning, in collaboration with the national and international educational and academic community.
To be a world-class study centre that leads research, analysis and reflection in education and innovation, in order to generate better opportunities for social inclusion and learning, in dialogue with Plan Ceibal and the community.
From the beginning, in 2015, the Foundation managed to position itself as a recognized institution at national, regional and international level. Joining and forming networks of excellence in research and innovation. We carried out more than 70 projects, 60 conferences and 150 publications.
